Hola amigo, Do you ever notice how the best conversations in Jackson Heights don’t happen at big events, but over a good meal? Someone passes the salt, someone else shares a story, and suddenly you’ve got new ideas and a new friend. That’s the spirit behind our community dinner happening next Tuesday, November 18th at 6:30pm. It’s simple. You answer a few quick questions: things like your dietary preferences and what kind of conversations you enjoy… and we’ll match you with five other locals for dinner at a nearby spot. It’s $17 to book, and that covers the logistics so you can just show up and enjoy the evening. You can sign up for the dinner and a chance to make lifelong friends that live in the hood by RSVPing here: jacksonheightsinsider.dnnr.io After dinner, everyone’s invited to meet up at a local bar to keep the conversations going. No name tags, no networking, just good company and good stories. Now, before your calendar fills up, here’s what else is happening around the neighborhood this week… (Looking for more? Hey you. Yes, you, reading the neighborhood email! If you are new to Jackson Heights, new-ish, or just wondering how everyone else seems to know each other, you are in the right place. Our newcomer meetup is happening this Monday, and it is all about meeting kind humans and picking up local wisdom. This one will have an artsy twist, with the folks from the Jackson Heights Mural project joining us. Speaking of neighbors and creative projects, this week we also launched Voices of Jackson...
Hey neighbor, It's a new year, we've got a new mayor in town, and yes - the old MetroCards are officially out. 2026 showed up, and Jackson Heights welcomed it like an old friend. Happy Noon Year kicked things off early with a daytime party full of music, dancing, kids, and parents pretending they were “just supervising.” It was such a joyful scene that it even got love from CBS news: Then later that night, wificita and I wondered over to the Queensboro and before we knew it, dinner turned...
Hey neighbor, The new year is almost here, but first we have to survive this cold - the kind of weather that makes even the pigeons look confused. There are so many...
